PPEAMB offers 15 annual openings for the Master's program and 10 for the Doctoral program, made available through a public call for applications, in accordance with the period established in UFRPE’s academic calendar. Applicants must hold a degree in Environmental Engineering or related fields, such as Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Sanitary Engineering, Agricultural and Environmental Engineering, among others.

Students who are about to complete their undergraduate degree (for the Master’s program) or Master’s degree (for the Doctoral program) may also apply, provided they submit, at the time of application, a statement from the coordination of their current course or program indicating the expected date of completion. However, enrollment will only be finalized upon submission of proof of completion.

In addition to the diploma (or equivalent document), applicants must submit: an academic transcript from the undergraduate program and, for Doctoral applicants, also from the Master's program; a Curriculum Vitae registered on the Lattes Platform with proper documentation; and a research proposal following the model provided in the selection call.

The selection process consists of two stages: evaluation of the research proposal and assessment of the Curriculum Vitae. The proposal evaluation is both eliminatory and classificatory, considering the quality of writing and alignment with PPEAMB's research lines (score from 0 to 5). This is followed by a virtual interview conducted by a committee of three faculty members, during which the applicant must demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the proposed research topic (score from 0 to 5). Applicants who achieve a combined score of 6.0 (six) or higher in the proposal and interview will be approved for the next stage (Curriculum Vitae evaluation).

In the curriculum evaluation (score from 0 to 10), academic and professional activities are assessed based on a scoring rubric defined in the call for applications. The final score is calculated as a weighted average, with a weight of 3 assigned to the research proposal and 7 to the Curriculum Vitae.

The entire selection process is overseen by PPEAMB’s Selection and Scholarship Management Committee (COSEGE), composed of the coordinator and their substitute, two faculty representatives, one student representative, and one representative from the technical-administrative staff. COSEGE is responsible for ensuring transparency and integrity throughout the selection process, as well as using the final candidate ranking to allocate the available scholarships.
